If you are caring, friendly, compassionate and like a chat, and can commit to visiting someone once a week or fortnight, join us to improve the quality of life for our older community! As a Community Companion Volunteer - you will be matched with clients and make regular phone calls to them as part of Open Support's Social Isolation program. You will be supporting individuals to establish and maintain meaningful social connections, leading to increased wellbeing. When disaster or emergency strikes, our Salvation Army Emergency Services (SAES) teams support communities at their point of need. You’ll find our volunteers providing meals and refreshments to first responders and evacuees, distributing bedding and material needs for displaced community members, and holding a listening ear for those who have experienced the disaster firsthand. Our SAES teams rely on volunteers and are always looking for new recruits.

If you’re fluent in spoken English and willing to teach online, we would greatly appreciate your support. To bring joy and social connection to an older man by visiting them in their own homes - in Eastwood LGA. Approximately an hour a week or fortnight at a time to suit both of you. Having some IT knowledge will be desirable.
