Conversational English Teacher Volunteer
The Chinese Cultural Association (CCA) is a community service provider for immigrants in Australia. One of our key services is offering English language tutoring to newly arrived and established migrants. As a Volunteer English Teacher, your role will involve running online training sessions that empower migrants and community members by helping them develop English language skills and gain insights into local culture.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting online English lessons using a training guide prepared by CCA, tailored to suit learners of varying English proficiency levels. Creating a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for learners to ensure a positive experience throughout the training. Assessing participants' English levels and adapting the training accordingly. Collaborating with other teachers to organise activities and share responsibilities. We’re looking for someone who has:
Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The ability to teach online using platforms like Zoom. Strong listening, observation, and organisational skills. Previous teaching experience (preferred but not essential). This role is perfect for someone who:
Has a strong command of spoken English. Has a warm and welcoming personality. Enjoys engaging in interesting conversations and appreciates multicultural lifestyles. Loves spending time in meaningful dialogue with fellow English learners. Has a passion for teaching, even without formal experience.
