Join this friendly team and help prepare and provide healthy food and drinks. Assist with the preparation of school lunch orders including making sandwiches, snacks, and other food items, putting food into warmers/ovens, and packing and sorting orders. The role also involves serving children and cash handling.
Your basic sewing machine skills, or willingness to learn, will be useful in this role sewing wildlife rescue pouches and basket liners. Only straight line sewing, and patterns are cut along straight lines. All equipment is provided. Pouches and liners are sewn to specific sizes and designs and are given to local wildlife carers as needed. Timing is flexible - between 8am and 1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
A low stress role in the company of other volunteers, where, once a week, you would help make sure the kitchen and fridge are clean, do a bit of tidying, light dusting and wiping over library shelves. This role would suit someone who has an interest in conservation, who wants to meet new people and enjoy their company.
Use your knowledge of the natural environment and research skills to develop a series of environmental education activities. Activities are designed to enable participants to safely investigate social history and explore the wetlands flora and fauna of one of the Hunters most significant biodiversity centers. Full access to the resources of the organisation will be provided to support the development of easily reproduced and copied materials.
Assist with the operation of the Book Trolley at our Centre. This role involves processing donated books and magazines, including screening suitable books and magazines for content. You will organise and maintain the Volunteer Library, organise and transport the book trolley, offer books and magazines to consumers, their carers, and families in our Centre and provide general support and/or conversation to involve them in positive connections.
Enjoy a walk and a chat as you stroll along the shoreline of Ash Island picking up small items of litter. You'll use a grab stick and bag to pick up small items, mostly plastic, to ensure they don't enter waterways threatening wildlife, and help improve the visual appeal of the landscape. At the end of the shift, you'll enter the data into the computer, with help provided if needed, to record types of litter collected. This is part of a Citizen Science project.
This Community Visitors Scheme matches volunteers to people who are living in their own homes or who are living in Aged Care Homes who would enjoy, and benefit from, friendship and companionship. Your friendly nature, good people skills and empathy for the frail and aged will be highly regarded in this role. Being from a non-English speaking background is desirable but not essential. Current National Criminal Check required and will be arranged by organisation.

Volunteer Groundskeepers are responsible for ensuring the grounds of Community Facilities are kept in a well-maintained condition which contributes to buildings being welcoming to the community. The role includes general garden maintenance using tools such as lawn mower and edge trimmer, maintenance of equipment and the removal and disposal of garden and other waste.
Your organisation and time management skills will be highly regarded in this Sort Assistant role. You will sort, classify, and process incoming raw stock and pack stock ready for distribution. This role ensures waste management procedures are adhered to in order to minimise waste removal costs and environmental impact. Ensure unloading and stockpiling of raw materials is carried out efficiently and carefully to minimise stock losses.
Want to develop retail and customer service skills? We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers in our retail outlet. This role involves following all shop procedures, maintaining shop presentation and cleanliness including ensuring stock levels, adjusting merchandising and general cleaning duties. You will ensure stock is priced appropriately as well as assist with meeting target sales, minimising costs, completing retail transactions and providing high levels of service to our customers.
Local charitable organisation is looking for a person to drive their van for the collection of donated items (non furniture) for their retail outlet. Must have current car licence. The position would suit a responsible mature person. Role will include working alone due to Covid restrictions. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated against Covid 19. Volunteer must be able to get to Wallsend Depot, where van is garaged.
Your excellent customer service skills are sought to assist with shop presentation, upkeep and merchandising in this second-hand clothing, bric-a-brac and other goods shop. Your maturity and attention to detail would be highly regarded in this role. This is an active role so your fitness and general good health are required.
Assist the organisation with developing and maintaining an up to date WHS system. Provide guidance and supervision on WHS matters to Staff and volunteers across the organisation. Conduct WHS Audits. Maintain WHS registers and assist with relevant meetings.
Your good communication skills, friendly personality and empathy with frail aged people will be of great value in this role. You will support staff who work with clients in a day care type environment - socialising with clients and assisting with activities such as games and craft. You'll help with tea and coffee making, and serving of meals. Some activities are off-site so having your own vehicle to get there would be helpful. Current National Criminal Check required.
