This Community Visitors Scheme matches volunteers to people who are living in their own homes or who are living in Aged Care Homes who would enjoy, and benefit from, friendship and companionship. Your friendly nature, good people skills and empathy for the frail and aged will be highly regarded in this role. Being from a non-English speaking background is desirable but not essential. Current National Criminal Check required and will be arranged by organisation.

You will be responsible for delivering/collecting various items (including heavy/ bulky items) to/from shops across the region and will deliver these items to community members in need. By performing this role, you will help raise funds by distributing welfare items across the region to support the housing of the homeless and other vulnerable people in the community. You will perform your duties alongside another volunteer and will work as part of the wider team at our Distribution Centre.

Assist with the operation of the Book Trolley at our Centre. This role involves processing donated books and magazines, including screening suitable books and magazines for content. You will organise and maintain the Volunteer Library, organise and transport the book trolley, offer books and magazines to consumers, their carers, and families in our Centre and provide general support and/or conversation to involve them in positive connections.

Join our team to assist Residents as they take a bus trip around the local community. Sometimes assist with a gentle walk in a park or sit on a bench watching the surfers, taking in the beautiful scenery. Assist in managing the store of spare parts to maintain and service our fleet of vintage railway rolling stock. Our Depot facilities are located at Paterson.

Your reliability and enthusiasm will be appreciated, as will your previous plumbing experience. Main days of work are Monday and Wednesday. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID 19.
