Our client in New Lambton is seeking a friendly person who would like a social visitor for a cuppa and a chat.

Your general gardening skills and love of working outdoors will be greatly appreciated in this role. Help keep the grounds and surrounds of our Aged Care Facility looking good for the enjoyment of our residents and visitors. This role involves pruning shrubs, weeding, raking of leaves and watering. Other small, related tasks as directed.

We are seeking Tour Guides to lead visitor tours through one of Newcastle's most iconic and historical sites. If you love meeting and communicating with people, come and join our friendly team of volunteers. This role is available 1 - 2 days per week, including weekends.

Your excellent customer service skills and friendly nature are required for this Role. We are looking for volunteers to assist visitors and tourists in our kiosk. You will meet and greet local and international tourists, provide information and make sales. The Role involves dealing with EFTPOS machines and cash handling. Assist with the operation of the Book Trolley at our Centre. This role involves processing donated books and magazines, including screening suitable books and magazines for content. You will organise and maintain the Volunteer Library, organise and transport the book trolley, offer books and magazines to consumers, their carers, and families in our Centre and provide general support and/or conversation to involve them in positive connections.

We are seeking Volunteer Drivers to collect food from our supermarket supplier/s for our Neighbourhood Centre. Our Volunteer Drivers are accompanied by one of our Volunteers as a passenger to assist. You will drive to and from assigned supermarket/s; load food into a vehicle and/or trailer, and deliver to our Centre with assistance from other volunteers. You will need a current driver’s license and a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle with capacity (or trailer) to transport food.

Are you creative? Do you have a passion for arts and crafts? Share your love for arts and crafts with residents of a local aged care facility. Use your creativity and artistic skills to assist people to create their own pieces. Resources will be provided, all you need to bring are your ideas and enthusiasm.

Spend time with an elderly person who would like a social visitor at our residential aged care home. You'll love this volunteer opportunity to chat, provide companionship and reduce their sense of isolation. The commitment is for a minimum of one hour per week for 12 months or longer. We would be delighted to talk with you about a suitable day and time during the week.

Share your love of music with a resident living with dementia. We welcome a range of musical styles, from classical, jazz, country, rock'n'roll and popular hits from the 1930's onwards. As you volunteer and play music, this musical resident would love to play along with you.

Play an important role in the day to day running of our service. This role is often the first point of contact for clients and contributes to how clients regard the services provided by the organisation. Tasks include welcoming visitors, dealing with phone calls and messages, booking appointments, responding to customer enquiries, ordering stock, dealing with mail and email, general office tasks, recording financial transactions and basic cleaning duties.

Make everyone’s day by pushing a trolley with all kinds of sweet treats around to residents living with dementia at our residential aged care home. We all love a sweet treat once in a while. You’ll bring joy to residents every time you enter the room.

Habitat for Humanity Australia requires volunteers for repair and maintenance work on crisis accommodation. The program benefits disadvantaged and socially isolated members of the community. There is a range of volunteer opportunities both in and around Newcastle. No skills are required! Teams are mobilised to conduct landscaping, painting and minor repairs to homes and crisis accommodation.
