Emotional support and companionship is so important for senior Australians, particularly following the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of this, and to address the decline in volunteers during this time, the Australian Government is encouraging the return of volunteers and encouraging new volunteers to residential aged care facilities (RACFs).
The gardens at Heide Museum of Modern Art are as integral a part of the visitor experience as the art. This volunteer role will assist with Heide’s indigenous garden project along the Birrarung (Yarra River), Yaluk Langa (River’s Edge). Do you have an interest in indigenous land management and the ability to work outdoors, using garden tools? You'll need to be available on the last Saturday of the month from 10.00am to 2.00pm.
Woodlands Lodge Residential Aged Care Facility is centrally located in the heart of Arundel. It delivers quality care in a supportive, friendly environment to meet the needs of both high and low care residents. This volunteer role helps The Patch provide fresh, organic produce to the community through the Salvation Army community lunch, thrift shop and through monthly produce swaps. Within this role, volunteers assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of The Patch. Duties will include planting, harvesting fruit and vegetables, weeding, maintaining equipment and the building of new beds and infrastructure. The Patch welcomes all abilities and backgrounds to assist with Volunteering.
