Volunteer required to visit two older men living in a residential aged care home in Roselands for social support and friendship on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Thee men love to have a chat over a coffee, play bingo or go for a walk in the garden. You would also need to be available on weekdays. It would be great if you could visit them individually and regularly to reduce their feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Working with a small team of staff and other volunteers, you will help run Brekkie Club in the school grounds of Wiley Park Girls High School.
30% of people living in residential care are lonely and socially isolated. We are currently recruiting volunteers to join our lifestyle team to help us create a fun, caring and supportive environment for our aged care residents. We need volunteers who are passionate about breaking the loneliness cycle for our seniors and who love engaging with older people.
Vinnies Support Centres are client-centred support and referral services operated by the St Vincent de Paul Society. They offer face-to-face support to those in the community who require financial, food or material assistance. Volunteering is a great way to interact with like-minded people and build friendships. Feel satisfied knowing you are working for an organisation that makes a difference for those in need.
