Seniors Social Support Group Casual Bus Driver for Occasional Shifts

Volunteers should be available for casual occasional shifts when needed.

Shifts : Monday - Friday Hours: 71/2 hours per day

Aim: To provide a High Quality and positive experience for clients whilst they travel to and from the Social Support Groups

Essential & Desirable Criteria

• Demonstrated and Recent Experience driving a 21 seat bus and providing transport to seniors and or people with disabilities.

• Knowledge of Earlwood and Surrounding Area.

• LR- HR Driver's Licence

• Knowledge and understanding of issues for frail aged people and and people with disabilities.

Demonstrated experience working in a team

• Good Verbal communication skills.

• Cultural Competency

• Good organisational Skills

Bus Driver Duties:

• Pick up individual clients from their homes and transport them to the group venue, within a given time frame safely.

• Plan or research the most efficient route to pick up clients , take them to the centre and the route to any venues for outings and bus trips.

The Driver will be assisted by a Group Worker/Assistant who will be responsible for ensuring that clients board and disembark from the bus safely.

The Bus Driver will provide a safe comfortable and timely transport to and from their homes for clients attending Social Support Groups at Canterbury Earlwood Caring Community Centre and other venues.

Maintain a sensitive and client focused approach and constructive and patient approach to problem solving and the client.

Provide assistance to passengers including the operation of wheelchairs etc. Perform other driving duties as directed .

Diligent attention to detail and safety of the bus and clients at all times.

Police Check at CECAL's cost.

Volunteers are required to be 18+ when submitting interest in this position, applicants who are under 18 are not eligible to apply.

• Occasional Shifts ease of availability to support service delivery when our Bus Driver is on leave.
