Beresfield Community Care is a not-for-profit In-Home Community Care Provider. We have clients living across the Maitland and Newcastle LGA. We require volunteers to provide essential transport services for our clients who may be aged, living with a disability, or experiencing disadvantage.

This diverse role involves preparation and planting around our historic radar station. You will research and record the area's history and host regular community planting days and events on-site. This is an opportunity to learn and maintain Bushcare and Research skills.

Do you have curiosity and an interest in Native Bees? This Volunteer Role is a wonderful opportunity to increase your knowledge about Native Bees and their habitat. You will learn about Native Bees in the Hunter Region and monitor Bee "Hotels." You will be required to log and record observed Native Bee activity. Volunteers can attend a one-day training course at Tocal College when it becomes available.

Our community organisation is seeking an IT Support Volunteer to provide user support. You will address and resolve technical problems related to hardware, software, and network systems. Ensure that all hardware and software installations are functioning. Work to enhance the efficiency, performance and reliability of IT systems.

Your enthusiasm and love of the outdoors are required for this role. Tidy up and maintain our existing small garden adjacent to our retirement village. This includes tending shrubs and ground covers, mulching, planting and general garden duties.

Are you looking for a rewarding challenge supporting a local charity? You'll be organised, outgoing and a great communicator. This role is responsible for creating, participating in and overseeing all fundraising activities. This will include completing grant applications and liaising with organisations and individuals for the purpose of obtaining donations, as well as running small events.

Your gardening experience, or your willingness to learn new gardening skills, will be greatly appreciated in this role. You'll be working outdoors in a beautiful setting: planting, weeding, pruning and mulching as well as other garden related activities. Days and hours are negotiable to suit your schedule. The role requires a current Criminal Record Check and would prefer a current Working with Children Check.

A low stress role in the company of other volunteers, where, once a week, you would help make sure the kitchen and fridge are clean, do a bit of tidying, light dusting and wiping over library shelves. This role would suit someone who has an interest in conservation, who wants to meet new people and enjoy their company.

Use your knowledge of the natural environment and research skills to develop a series of environmental education activities. Activities are designed to enable participants to safely investigate social history and explore the wetlands flora and fauna of one of the Hunters most significant biodiversity centers. Full access to the resources of the organisation will be provided to support the development of easily reproduced and copied materials.

Enjoy a walk and a chat as you stroll along the shoreline of Ash Island picking up small items of litter. You'll use a grab stick and bag to pick up small items, mostly plastic, to ensure they don't enter waterways threatening wildlife, and help improve the visual appeal of the landscape. At the end of the shift, you'll enter the data into the computer, with help provided if needed, to record types of litter collected. This is part of a Citizen Science project.

Be the back bone behind the Volunteers and Members that provide the essential community support to those doing it tough in the community. It might be sending photos, uploading to social media, taking better pictures, or setting up an email address. Maybe you need help with an update? Or you've lost something you thought you had saved?

Your strong literacy and numeracy skills, and your patience and dedication, will be highly regarded in this role, assisting Adult Vocational Education students who may be challenged by, or face barriers with, the literacy and numeracy requirements within the course they are undertaking. You’ll assist a student with reading, writing & numeracy exercises, sometimes during class and sometimes one-on-one.
