Our Service aims to get clients out and about with a focus on the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas. We are dedicated to getting people who are transport disadvantaged, to a variety of destinations including social outings, appointments and shopping trips. You will assist staff and drivers to ensure that clients are comfortable during their trip and assist with activities and outings organised for our clients.

Home Care Support volunteers provide a range of support services to our clients and their carers/families. Services include transporting clients to and from various appointments, assisting clients with everyday responsibilities, such as shopping and providing social support activities to clients. The role is to provide a safe, reliable and punctual service to enable our clients to access the community and reduce isolation in their everyday lives.

Our organisation supports older people who live alone or have few social connections to help improve their well-being. Our programs match those not in regular social contact with people with caring and friendly volunteers. This role involves personal visiting, including social conversations and can include social outings and group activities. This is a Commonwealth-funded Aged Care Program with no charges to the client. Roles are available across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter.

We are seeking to build a team of volunteers to support our work in the community, share information about Mental Health Support, and Fundraise for our community projects. Primarily, this will involve our Market Stall sites across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. This includes a rotating roster of volunteers for each site, setup of a marquee, tables, promotional materials, and sales of fundraising items. The role involves weekends and some night markets.

Your planning and communication skills will be highly regarded in this role working with Community User Groups. We are seeking a volunteer to liaise with various sporting clubs to create a collective events calendar. The calendar will identify each club's planned activities. The role also involves planning and coordinating weekly interviews with each of the sporting bodies as well as Community Radio to promote awareness of upcoming events.

Bring along your device be it a phone, laptop, computer, tablet, kindle etc that you wish to learn to use better, or have a particular functionality you need help with. It might be sending photos, uploading to social media, taking better pictures, or setting up an email address. Maybe you need help with an update? Or you've lost something you thought you had saved?

Enjoy the great outdoors and spend time in the sunshine in our gardens as you walk alongside our elderly residents. You'll be helping people to maintain their mobility as well as their healthy wellbeing.

Do you like to knit, sew or crochet? Would you like to visit residents and provide conversation while you knit/sew/crochet? Some of our residents used to knit but are unable to now. They would love to watch you and chat.

Do you have an interest in working outdoors doing gardening and handyperson activities? Volunteer Groundskeepers are responsible for ensuring the grounds of Community Facilities are kept in a well-maintained condition which contributes to buildings being welcoming to the community. The role includes general garden maintenance using tools such as lawn mower and edge trimmer, maintenance of equipment and the removal and disposal of garden and other waste.

Our organisation requires Community Champions to get their peers out and about to come along to our Free Tech Help Sessions for Seniors. Maybe you are the most social person in your community & are always told you are the life of the party? We need you! Be our champion to spread the word and help others to learn about our free help sessions and socialising with younger people. It really is rewarding and there are lots of perks! We are seeking volunteers to assist with our therapeutic groups & one-off events. Groups include recreational groups (weekly and/or monthly) for young people aged 8-12 years as well as 12-15 years, and one- off family and children’s events & camps. Have fun and use your enthusiasm and energy to engage with participants in recreational activities and group discussions. Be a role model to participants by encouraging manners, social skills & respect. Assist with set up and pack down of activities.

You will be delivering & collecting items and stock (including bulky items) from shops across the region and delivering items to community members in need. You will help raise funds by distributing welfare items across the region to support the housing of the homeless and other vulnerable people. You will work alongside another volunteer and work as part of the wider team reporting to and assisted by our Distribution Centre but operate from a Transport Hub.

Your excellent customer service skills are sought to assist with shop presentation, upkeep and merchandising in this second-hand clothing, bric-a-brac and other goods shop. Your maturity and attention to detail would be highly regarded in this role. This is an active role so your fitness and general good health are required.

Volunteer with this Service and provide a support person role for people with cognitive impairment at courthouses, police stations, lawyer’s offices and prisons. Volunteers ensure that criminal justice processes and language are explained clearly and that the client’s wishes and decisions are respected. Your strong communication skills and the ability to relate to and interact well with others will be highly regarded. Basic computer skills are required for this role.
