Your strong literacy and numeracy skills, and your patience and dedication, will be highly regarded in this role, assisting Adult Vocational Education students who may be challenged by, or face barriers with, the literacy and numeracy requirements within the course they are undertaking. You’ll assist a student with reading, writing & numeracy exercises, sometimes during class and sometimes one-on-one.

We are seeking to build a team of volunteers to support our work in the community, share information about Mental Health Support, and Fundraise for our community projects. Primarily, this will involve our Market Stall sites across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. This includes a rotating roster of volunteers for each site, setup of a marquee, tables, promotional materials, and sales of fundraising items. The role involves weekends and some night markets.

Groups include recreational groups (weekly and/or monthly) for young people aged 8-12 years as well as 12-15 years, and one- off family and children’s events & camps. Your excellent customer service skills are sought to assist with shop presentation, upkeep and merchandising in this second-hand clothing, bric-a-brac and other goods shop. Your maturity and attention to detail would be highly regarded in this role. This is an active role so your fitness and general good health are required.

The Wright of Passage program is a youth pre-employment program aimed at assisting young people who thrive outside of a traditional educational environment. The youth in this program have behavioural and/or learning difficulties, they are supporting by mentors to learn, grow and build their confidence as they learn to build and sail Rainbow Dinghy's.

Volunteer with this Service and provide a support person role for people with cognitive impairment at courthouses, police stations, lawyer’s offices and prisons. Volunteers ensure that criminal justice processes and language are explained clearly and that the client’s wishes and decisions are respected. Your strong communication skills and the ability to relate to and interact well with others will be highly regarded. Basic computer skills are required for this role.
