30% of people living in residential care are lonely and socially isolated. We are currently recruiting volunteers to join our lifestyle team to help us create a fun, caring and supportive environment for our aged care residents. We need volunteers who are passionate about breaking the loneliness cycle for our seniors and who love engaging with older people.

You will assist in promoting our services and resources at community events. Assist with event planning tasks, including brainstorming ideas, developing timelines, and securing materials. Help set up and pack down events, ensuring a professional and welcoming presence. Engage with community members, providing information about suicide prevention and answering questions with compassion and empathy. Participate in post-event evaluations, sharing your feedback and helping us improve future events.

Help young people attain their provisional licence by providing safe and supportive driving instruction. Educate learners on vehicle controls, road rules, defensive driving techniques, and manoeuvres to pass driving tests. The role involves tailoring lessons to suit each student’s abilities, instilling safe driving habits, emphasising the importance of defensive driving, hazard perception, & accident prevention, providing feedback and maintaining records of progress, lessons and logbook hours.

Do you like boats and sailing? This role involves collecting a 3.5M poly boat on a purpose-built aluminium trailer with an electric start 4-stroke motor and towing it 500 meters to a public boat ramp. Launch the boat with the help of club members, drive the boat out onto Throsby Creek and lay markers to create a sailing course. Return to shore and be on standby to collect distressed model boats if required. When racing has concluded, collect the buoys & return the boat to its original location.

We’re looking for committed/dedicated volunteers to help run our sailing programs on large racing yachts. Some sailing experience is preferred but not essential, however, a love of helping young people be the best they can be is a must. You’ll sail with and mentor our very excited young clients, many of whom have a disability or come from socially challenged backgrounds.

In particular, to cover the Evening shift - Mondays to Sundays, 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm and the Day shift, Saturdays and Sundays, 11 am to 7 pm.

The role will involve the general cleaning of public and office areas. Tasks include, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting and emptying garbage bins. The role includes cleaning bathrooms and toilets as well as mopping floors.

A local charity looking after the welfare of seafarers on vessels in Newcastle port requires volunteers for their Centre. Calm and organised people needed to answer telephone calls and co-ordinate drivers. The position involves the operation of a small on-site shop, including currency conversion. Would suit an ex-retail or bank worker.

Our Service aims to get clients out and about with a focus on the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas. We are dedicated to getting people who are transport disadvantaged, to a variety of destinations including social outings, appointments and shopping trips. You will assist staff and drivers to ensure that clients are comfortable during their trip and assist with activities and outings organised for our clients.

Home Care Support volunteers provide a range of support services to our clients and their carers/families. Services include transporting clients to and from various appointments, assisting clients with everyday responsibilities, such as shopping and providing social support activities to clients. The role is to provide a safe, reliable and punctual service to enable our clients to access the community and reduce isolation in their everyday lives.
