You will be providing social support to our valued clients by assisting them with their desire to remain independent and active.
CarPal drivers take a five minute detour from a trip they were driving anyway to offer a Ride to Sydney Hills Shut-in Seniors needing to get out and about around Sydney after they hand in their drivers licences. CarPal is a Community Rideshare initiative a bit like Uber but with a kindness dividend rather than a commercial one.
Maintain and distribute materials for leisure activities including cards, table games, individual craft, Trivia and Bingo etc. Arrange for replacement and/or purchase of leisure activities. Understand members’ abilities, interests and need for variety.
Prepare venue before members arrive - unlock facility, turn off security systems, turn on heating, set out furniture, fill and turn on the urn. At end of the day, ensure venue is cleared and left clean, tidy and secure and electrical appliances are off.
Assist with Day Club activities such as group discussions, games, quizzes. Assist serving morning tea and Lunch to members. Orient new members and visitors, help them to feel at ease. Assist and encourage conversation between members.
