HNE Mental Health Volunteer Service is seeking dedicated Volunteers to join the Nexus Connect Volunteer program at Nexus, our Child and Adolescent Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit located at the John Hunter campus. In this role, you’ll help provide supportive companionship and engaging activities for young people receiving care in a sensitive and compassionate environment.

Control groups are vital to a research study providing a point of comparison for general participants and helping to determine the study's efficacy. Work with this friendly and positive team to actively engage with and support young people on program. Programs may include face to face activities such as Activity days, Camps, and ‘Connect’ sessions (online). Your communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport will assist and support young people whilst on Program, building a relationship of trust. You’ll participate in program activities supervising and assisting young people as required.

This is an easy cleaning role! Your attention to detail, reliability, punctuality and commitment will be highly regarded. Your job will be to maintain the cleanliness of our hall, interior only. You will be working in air conditioned comfort. As you will be working with the aged, empathy with the frail & aged is needed. Role is available up to 2 days a week, 5 hours each day, but these days and hours will be discussed with each volunteer.

We are seeking Tour Guides to lead visitor tours through one of Newcastle's most iconic and historical sites. If you love meeting and communicating with people, come and join our friendly team of volunteers. This role is available 1 - 2 days per week, including weekends.

Your excellent customer service skills and friendly nature are required for this Role. We are looking for volunteers to assist visitors and tourists in our kiosk. You will meet and greet local and international tourists, provide information and make sales. The Role involves dealing with EFTPOS machines and cash handling. Experience in these areas is helpful but not essential.

This Community Visitors Scheme matches volunteers to people who are living in their own homes or who are living in Aged Care Homes who would enjoy, and benefit from, friendship and companionship. Your friendly nature, good people skills and empathy for the frail and aged will be highly regarded in this role. Being from a non-English speaking background is desirable but not essential. Current National Criminal Check required and will be arranged by organisation.
