Auburn Hospital in Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) has recently opened its new Supportive and Palliative Care Unit. This achievement was made possible through the dedication and vision of staff members like Jason Selmon, the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) of the facility. The unit boasts features designed to prioritise comfort and support. “Seeing families coming in the crisis, when they’re in tears, and haven’t slept for days, it’s important to make them feel at ease,” Jason said. “Everyone knows their part and knows what they’re going to do,” he said. Auburn Hospital’s team works closely with patients to ensure their care aligns with individual preferences and needs. Whether a patient requires a brief stay or an extended period in the unit, they are there to provide the best possible care. The Supportive and Palliative Care Unit at Auburn Hospital is truly making a difference in the lives of patients and their families within the WSLHD community. Even during the most difficult moments, the team’s guidance and leadership shines through.
