Social Support Volunteers encourage and support community engagement, independent living and enable socially isolated people to ‘get back to the things they love’ through meaningful social connections. Volunteers work with people to meet their social support goals. This might involve having a conversation with someone over a cuppa at home, or getting out and about with a group doing something the person enjoys.

We are looking for kind, committed and positive people to join our team of 1:1 social support volunteers. This program is designed to support older people to reengage and reconnect with their community and to the things they love to do. Currently we are looking for a volunteer for Gwen* Gwen describes herself as social and chatty, she is a creative and intelligent person who in interested in world events and meeting new people.
Greg* describes himself as easy going, respectful, friendly, with a good sense of humour. He enjoys reading, working in the garden and spending time on the computer. Uniting are seeking a personable and engaging volunteer to support Greg* to reconnect with his community. *name changed.
Margaret* loves to go out and socialise. She has been described as friendly, with a great sense of humour. Margaret would prefer a mature female volunteer who is outgoing and friendly, and who would be able to take her out in their car.
Frank* has a great sense of humour, enjoys enjoys a robust conversation and is passionate about his faith. He attends church when Covid restrictions permit. He also enjoys reading, listening to music, and TV. Frank would prefer a mature female volunteer to visit on a Thursday or Friday, for a walk, stopping at local cafes for a coffee and to enjoy some stimulating conversation. *name changed.
Jenny* is gregarious and chatty, with a myriad of interesting passions. She is a clock collector, a retired seamstress, a fan of old Hollywood movies and an avid fan of 'the Bold and the Beautiful'. Her favourite pastime is op shopping at her local strip of shops. She would love to have someone join her for some window shopping and a coffee. *Name changed.

Kath* has been described as an outgoing, friendly and chatty person. She enjoys word search, attending church services, playing cards, reading, dancing and watching Bold and the Beautiful on TV. She'd prefer a mature female volunteer to help her get the most out of her iPad, take a walk and have a chat. Kath is available any weekday morning. *name changed.
Learning Support Volunteers (LSVs) assist students and teachers in the classroom or in other areas of the school for a minimum of one hour per week.
Provide support to students at risk of not achieving their educational potential
The primary function of this role is to provide support and assistance to the carer. This will include engagement with the children, transporting to and from school/childcare, and daily activities in support of the carer. Drivers License and own vehicle required.
