We are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals in Belmont and surrounding areas, who can sit and have a chat, reminisce and talk about topics of interest with elderly clients in their own home.

Help make a significant difference for survivors of domestic violence and homelessness. Join our team of Volunteers on a Saturday morning (some mid-week jobs in summer) and help make a significant difference for survivors of domestic violence and homelessness. Our team performs various yard maintenance work including edging, mowing, trimming trees/hedges and transferring green waste into a green bin.

Bev is in her 80’s, her husband has just moved into care and her daughter is sick. She is a lovely chatty lady but is feeling understandably stretched by life’s challenges. She really needs someone to talk to and be a warm presence in her life. Could this be you? Just an hour a fortnight could make all the difference.

Marilyn is in her 90’s, she is a practicing Christian who loves to garden and enjoys the company of children. She can’t get out into the community readily anymore, so would love a visitor to come and chat with her. And if you want to bring your kids or grandkids, all the better. Can you help ease the loneliness for Marilyn? Just an hour a fortnight could make all the difference.

Des is in his 70’s - he loves a chat and since his wife died he would love to have someone to chat with. Originally from Malta, he is a gregarious, friendly man. We are looking for someone to visit him. Can you help? Just an hour a fortnight could make all the difference.

Ros is in her 70’s she loves dogs and art and crafts. She was a dedicated carer of her own mother who has now passed and she needs some help from the community to remember the joys of life. She has asked if someone could take her for fish and chips but is also open to going out for lunch and social chats over afternoon tea. Can you help? Do you want to make a difference in a young person's life? 1 in 10 young people are disengaged with school and 1 in 4 are unhappy with their lives. At Raise we know that a mentor can change the course of a young person’s life, helping teenagers to build resilience and feel more hopeful for the future. We recruit and train volunteers from the community to become youth mentors, before matching them with a teenager at a local public high school.

Do you like bringing lightness and laughter to people? We are looking for volunteer visitors to provide friendship and connection to older people living either in their own homes or in Residential Aged Care. Just by being a friendly visitor, you can bring vibrance and joy to an older person in our community. In this role, you will be introduced to an older person who shares similar interests to you. You will visit them weekly or fortnightly at a time that suits you.

Do you have one hour to spare in your week (or fortnight) to share in our passion for improving the quality of life of the elderly? You'd be providing companionship and social interaction for an older person living in their own home within Newcastle and Lake Macquarie districts. Your empathy for the elderly, reliability, caring nature and listening skills are needed for this role. Up to date Flu vaccination and current National Criminal Check are required.
