‘Because every life is precious’ GAWS provides a haven for lost and abandoned animals in the Greater Geelong region. We endeavour to reunite lost pets with their owners, and are an open admission shelter that takes in domestic animals in need with the aim of finding them suitable new homes. Our team of staff and volunteers are passionate about caring for those who are unable to look after themselves. GAWS works within current legislation and cooperates with all relevant authorities. We also work with a number of rescue organisations across Australia. A very busy workplace, our volunteers assist in the day to day feeding, cleaning and care of animals in the Shelter. Other tasks volunteers assist with are laundry and donation sorting, gardening and grounds maintenance, and our off-site Op Shop.
