Through a well-structured and developed volunteer program, EdConnect Australia brings the wealth of expertise from the community into schools, to support student learning and development, particularly for those identified as Students at Educational Risk (SaER). EdConnect volunteers are drawn from all walks of life, including past educators, professionals, tradespeople, parents and grandparents and tertiary students. Giving time and the benefit of lived experience, volunteers share a passion to make a positive difference to young people’s futures – influencing students’ desire to learn, faith in their ability to achieve and importantly, engagement in the education system. The EdConnect Australia story began more than 25 years ago with four volunteers in one Perth school. In 2024, over 1,500 volunteers will give their time in 250 schools across three states.
