The Good Shepherd Home, has been caring for the aged in the Townsville community for more than 40 years. The Home is sponsored by the Anglican Diocese of North Queensland and is a registered not-for-profit organisation. The number one focus of the home is to provide excellence in care for our 240 plus residents. We welcome visitors from all walks of life and a variety of backgrounds. They bring with them a great deal of life experience, special skills and qualities. No formal qualifications are required for most of our volunteer positions, just a warm and willing heart, and a cheerful nature. As a volunteer, you have the time to listen in an unhurried way and offer companionship to the lonely, and those who just need a listening ear and a gentle hand. In some cases the resident no longer has family or does not have family close by who can visit. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
