We are seeking volunteers with sewing and quilting skills to help create Memory Quilts for families as a treasured keepsake. Using clothing provided by patients, volunteers will stitch quilts that capture special memories and provide comfort to loved ones. All materials such as wadding, backing and off cuts can be supplied. This role is perfect for individuals or quilting groups who would like to contribute their time and talent to a meaningful project. By making Memory Quilts, you will help families hold onto something tangible and deeply personal.

Key Responsbilities

Sew and assemble Memory Quilts using clothing provided by families. Incorporate supplied materials (wadding, backing material and off cuts) into each quilt. Ensure each quilt is made with care, respect and attention to detail. Work independently or as part of a quilting group. Communicate with the Volunteer Coordinator regarding completed quilts and any support needed.

Time Commitment

Flexible - volunteers can work at home or in a group setting. Each quilt may take several hours to complete depending on size and complexity.

Skills & Attributes

Competence in sewing and quilting techniques. Attention to detail and creativity. Sensitivity to the emotional significance of the clothing and the keepsake. Reliability and ability to meet agreed timelines.
