Volunteer Mid-Level WordPress Website Developer
**Role Overview **
The Website Support role is responsible for maintaining and updating the Women 4 STEM WordPress website to ensure content remains current, accurate, and aligned with program and partner requirements. This role supports the Women 4 STEM Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Digital Officer in keeping the online presence fresh, functional, and data-informed - helping showcase the impact of the organisation to participants, sponsoring partners, and the broader community.
This is an ideal role for someone who’s detail-oriented, comfortable with WordPress, and keen to apply their digital skills to support a meaningful initiative. Volunteers will gain practical experience, expand their networks, and contribute to diversity in STEM. They'll also receive hands-on exposure, mentoring, and perks such as discounted tickets to Women 4 STEM events.
**Responsibilities include: **
- Update and publish website content, including copy, images, and other information.
- Upload and maintain media such as partner logos, links, and acknowledgements in line with branding requirements.
- Update the Jobs Board when requests are submitted
- Review pages regularly for broken links, outdated information, and formatting issues.
- Set up and manage SEO best practices (keywords, meta descriptions, tags) to support program visibility.
- Assist in setting up and monitoring Google Analytics and/or Google Tag Manager for website traffic and engagement data.
- Coordinate with the CMO to ensure website content reflects current campaigns, events, and announcements.
- Provide additional support to Women 4 STEM Chief Digital Officer if needed for technical troubleshooting and other website updates.
- Provide CMO with monthly updates on web traffic, engagement metrics, and trends.
**Who are we looking for? **
- Experience in in WordPress (or similar CMS)
- Knowledge of SEO principles and Google Analytics setup is a bonus
- Confidence with Teams and Slack is advantageous (but not essential)
- Tech-savvy, adaptable, and comfortable troubleshooting basic platform issues
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality event delivery
- Proactive and hands-on, with a passion for effective audience engagement
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally while working independently
- A passion for gender equity and supporting diversity in STEM education
**What is the commitment? **
Approximately 4-6 hours per week. Certain times are busier than others
