Position Title: Volunteer Video Editor
Organisation: Darling Downs Environment Council (DDEC)
Location: Remote or Toowoomba-based (as required)
Commitment: Flexible – Approx. 3–5 hours per week, depending on project demands
Reports to: Communications Coordinator / Campaign Manager
About the Darling Downs Environment Council (DDEC):
The Darling Downs Environment Council (DDEC) is a non-profit, grassroots organisation committed to protecting and preserving the environment and natural resources of the Darling Downs region. We work with local communities, Traditional Owners, and environmental advocates to promote sustainable development and advocate for ecological justice.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Volunteer Video Editor to support our environmental advocacy and awareness efforts. In this role, you will help bring our stories, campaigns, and events to life through compelling visual storytelling. Your work will play a key role in informing, inspiring, and engaging the community around critical environmental issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Edit raw video footage into polished, engaging short-form and long-form content for social media, the DDEC website, and community presentations.
Add titles, transitions, captions, music, and other effects as needed to enhance videos.
Collaborate with the communications team to align videos with DDEC’s messaging, branding, and campaign goals.
Re-purpose existing footage into highlight reels or educational videos.
Ensure timely delivery of edited content for upcoming campaigns or events.
Assist in maintaining an organised video library and archive.
Skills & Experience (Preferred but Not Essential):
Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar).
Strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition.
Basic knowledge of social media formats and best practices for video (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.).
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Interest or background in environmental issues, sustainability, or community organising is a plus.
