Farmer's Market Sales Assistant

About the Role
As a Farmers Market Sales Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of our Saturday market team, helping to bring fresh, locally grown produce to the community. This hands-on role involves setting up and packing down our market stall, assisting customers, and selling seasonal produce, sourdough bread, and nursery plants. It’s a great opportunity to connect with people, support a not-for-profit farm, and promote the benefits of seasonal, locally grown food.
Key Duties
- Set up the market stall – including assembling the marquee and arranging fresh produce for display.
- Prepare vegetables for sale – washing and organizing produce to ensure everything looks its best.
- Assist with harvesting – picking fresh produce to sell on the day.
- Stock transport – some lifting required to move items from storage to the stall.
- Engage with customers – provide friendly service and share knowledge about our farm and products.
- Sell produce, sourdough bread, and nursery plants – training provided to use the payment system.
- Pack down at the end of the day – ensuring everything is stored properly.
Skills & Experience
No prior experience is required—just a friendly attitude and a willingness to get involved! We’ll provide training, including how to use our payment system. However, this role is ideal for someone who:
- Enjoys working outdoors and being part of a team.
- Has an interest in fresh produce, local food, or gardening.
- Is comfortable with some physical tasks like lifting and moving stock.
- Loves chatting with people and providing great customer service.
