Volunteer Position: Farm Helper - Brisbane
About Us: We are a not-for-profit organization, and we value working with volunteers who share our mission of rekindling a love for locally grown food in people, especially children. All abilities are welcome.
Role Description: The Farm Helper role requires individuals with a reasonable level of physical mobility who enjoy being outdoors and in nature. This rewarding role involves working among organic vegetables and plants, which many volunteers find energizing. We don't use any chemicals or sprays; everything is organic, and it feels great being around the happy plants!
Responsibilities:
- Tuesdays: Working in the Herb and flower garden
- Wednesdays: Working in the Market garden
- Thursdays: Working on Special projects
- Fridays: Harvesting and packing vegetable boxes
- Saturdays: Working in the Mandala garden or helping at our market stall
Tasks may include:
- Weeding, planting, and mulching
- Assisting with special projects to improve farm infrastructure
- Harvesting and packing vegetable boxes
Requirements:
- A commitment of one day a week for at least one school term
- Physical fitness to perform farm tasks
- Sunsafe clothing, including a hat, long-sleeved shirt, and sunscreen
- Closed footwear
- A personal drink bottle to stay hydrated
- Reliable transport, as there is no public transport to the site (plenty of free parking available)

Safety: We take the safety of our volunteers seriously. Volunteers are asked to wear sun-safe clothing, including a hat, long-sleeved shirt, and covered shoes. Garden gloves are recommended, and please bring a drink bottle.
Location and Parking: Green Thumb Farm is located in the picturesque Samford Valley, just 35 minutes from Brisbane's CBD.
