Event Assistant for Darling Downs Environmental Council
The Darling Downs Environment Council (DDEC) is the regional environment group for inland Southern Regional Queensland. We bring people who care about the environment together to campaign to save what is left of this region's precious natural places and support viable alternatives to unsustainable industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events
- Source and liaise with vendors, sponsors, speakers, and partners to support events
- Help with the setup, logistics, and technical aspects of each event, including venue selection, equipment rental, catering, and transportation
- Communicate with event participants, vendors, and volunteers to ensure our events run smoothly and effectively
- Help with the promotion of events through social media, email campaigns, and other outreach methods
- Provide administrative support before, during, and after events (e.g., registration, documentation)
- Engage with event attendees, sharing information about our mission and current projects
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to manage challenges during event execution.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
- Previous event management experience (preferred but not required).
