'Climate Action Now' Sign Coordinators

Queensland Conservation Council

Our Organisation

Queensland Conservation Council (QCC) is the leading independent voice for the environment in Queensland. QCC brings together Queenslanders who care about our natural environment and climate change. We use our position to advocate for action that protects the environment and builds ecological sustainability. By working together we can make our voices heard and create a better future.

Together we need to stand up and get organised to protect nature, climate and communities. It will take everyone doing what they can, no matter how big or small, to deliver meaningful action for our environment.

The Opportunity

Climate Action Now (CAN) signs and stickers send a clear message to decision makers and political candidates that their community wants climate action and they want it now. The Volunteer CAN Sign Coordinators oversee the distribution of all CAN signs for QCC. Working under the guidance of our Climate Organiser, the CAN Sign Coordinators play a critical role in smooth operations and effectiveness of coordinating the distribution of CAN signs to ensure that as many signs are put up and registered across Queensland for maximum impact. The CAN Sign Coordinators are responsible for the management of CAN sign inventory and orders, and assist in process improvement to enhance the effectiveness of distribution.

Hours: If there are two volunteer CAN Sign Coordinators sharing the role - hours could be 4-8 hours per fortnight. If there is only one Coordinator - approximately 4 - 8 hours per week including one fortnightly meeting.

Key Duties

With the support of paid staff, the Volunteer CAN Sign Coordinators will assist with tasks such as:

  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records of our inventory of CAN signs and stickers, and ordering new stock as needed that are kept at our office in West End
  • Responding in a timely manner to order requests and enquiries including liaising with grassroot groups and QCC member groups
  • Processing new orders for pick up at the QCC office or mailing
  • Together with the Climate Organiser and the other CAN Sign Coordinator socialise with QCC staff any changes to processes
  • Working with the Climate Organiser to identify issues and opportunities to enhance the process and impact of the signs

Key Attributes

If you are passionate about protecting our nature and climate, and are committed to supporting making QCC’s vision a reality, we want to hear from you even if you might not have all the required skills. We are a large organisation with opportunities for everyone. Some key attributes for this role are:

  • Commitment to QCC vision, purpose and principles
  • Organisational skills with ability to time manage and prioritise varying tasks
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Initiative, and the ability to work autonomously as well as in a small team environment

Why QCC?
