  • Do you have a minimum of 2 hours per week?

About the role

We are seeking a Connect2You Volunteer Facilitator for our Virtual Community Centre. The Virtual Community Centre is the gateway to our Interests2Enjoy clubs and Connect2You.

Connect2You is an essential service for our Participants who may be feeling isolated and lonely outside of their visits/sessions in our other programs.

Due to this, we cannot guarantee if/who or how many Participants will drop in per shift. We need volunteers who understand this and are flexible if no one drops in. Facilitators can have an activity such as craft, a book, study on standby in quiet times or work on content creation for our Interests2Enjoy programs.

We aim to have two volunteers on duty at all times (where possible) and have a variety of shifts available Monday-Friday 9-5pm. However, we are urgently recruiting for Wednesday 11-1. As this is a volunteer from home role, you will need your own computer or laptop, reliable internet, telephone and email address.

As a Connect2You Facilitator, you will be responsible for:

  • Greeting Participants as they arrive online.
  • Directing Participants into their Interest2Enjoy (online club) session, when required.
  • Listening to seniors share their stories and chatting with them.
  • Encouraging Participants to join-in and ensuring everyone feels welcome and included.
  • Basic troubleshooting, if required.
  • Completing basic administration such as logging shifts in Polixen App and completing Monthly Support Review forms, so we can support you.
  • Working in a safe manner and reporting any incidents or concerns.
  • Reviewing/responding to emails/calls in a timely manner.
  • Completing online training, where required and attending recognition events, as required.
  • Abiding by the organisation's policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Our ideal Facilitator will be:

  • Warm, encouraging, with a friendly smile and positive attitude.
  • Experience using Zoom or willingness to learn.
  • Patient, compassionate, excellent communication skills and genuine interest in supporting seniors. You must be confident in 'small talk' and conversation starters.
  • Committed and reliable.

We aim to complete the onboarding process in less than 7 days.
