Are you passionate about empowering young people and making a positive impact in the community? Join Leading Youth Forward (LYF), a dynamic not-for-profit dedicated to supporting and mentoring at-risk youth in Perth. We are currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers aged 22-39 to help us make a difference.

About Leading Youth Forward LYF provides long-term, one-to-one mentoring and large group activities for teens in year 7 -10, focusing on youth development, layered with fun and engaging activities funded by our program. Our volunteer calendar is a weekend camp and four events (held either on a Saturday or Sunday) across a calendar year in Perth. Our volunteers require a valid WWCC and to undergo new volunteer training in February.

LYF pairs each teen one-on-one with a mentor to be their trusted friend and guide for at least one year, but ideally for the duration of the program (being up to 4 years). Our mentors are volunteers from various backgrounds and are young adults (aged 22 – 39), so that they are reasonably close to the age of our participants.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities As a volunteer with Leading Youth Forward, you will have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people in Perth. You can apply for one of the following roles:

• Volunteer Mentor
• Volunteer Event Helper
• Volunteer Freelancer

Qualifications and Skills

• Passion for working with youth and making a difference in their lives
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust and rapport with young people
• Reliability and commitment to volunteering on a regular basis
• Experience or knowledge in youth development, education, counseling, or a related field is a plus, but not required. We provide training and support for our volunteers.
