Ten Pin Bowling Lane Managers

Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East (MIE)
Logo for Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East (MIE)

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this position on behalf of Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East.

Lane Managers are required to help and direct our athletes when bowling:

  • Assist with teaching “League Format” (i.e. changing lanes)
  • When an athlete commences to bowl, ensure that they give way to a bowler on either side, who may already be preparing to bowl (this is teaching ‘Bowing Etiquette’)
  • As athletes are changing lanes, ensure they are in the correct lane
  • At the end of each game, write each athlete’s score on your sheet
  • Ensure athletes do not overstep the line when bowling
  • Encourage athletes to cheer each other on and enjoy the game
  • If you have any currently listed ‘bumper bowlers’, advise if you feel the bumpers are no longer needed
  • Fill in the athletes core card, if required

Ideally we are looking for volunteers who will be able to help out regularly or multiple times through the year.

Interested candidates can trial an initial session to get a ‘hands-on feel’ for our program and the lane manager role. If willing to continue to support our program (regularly or multiple times through the year), then we would require you to sign up as a formal volunteer with our club and ensure you have a current Working With Children Check in place.
