About Healthy Cities Illawarra We are Healthy Cities Illawarra Inc., the ‘glocal’ organisation working to create healthy environments and enabling healthy choices for the people of the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, NSW. We are dedicated to addressing underlying social, economic and environmental causes of health inequality and working in partnership with local government, health care providers and other community organisations to deliver meaningful health and wellbeing outcomes for our community.

Program Information: The Dinner Table Project is a capacity building program aiming to empower vulnerable, marginalised, and disadvantaged families within the Shellharbour Local Government Area to encourage spending more time together, meal preparation and eating at the dinner table. The intention is to build stronger family units while improving individual health and wellbeing. As part of this, the program aims to increase cooking skills and nutrition knowledge. The 6-week program runs for 2 hours each week and participants learn about: • Food safety • Australian Guide to Healthy Eating • Label reading – choosing healthy foods • Food storage • Lunchbox builder and meal planning The Dinner Table Project is a rotating program, covering the same topics each term at a new venue with a new set of participants.

Job description: Dinner Table Project Volunteers are responsible for providing a fun, inclusive, positive, and educational experience for families. Volunteers will assist with: • Setting up the information sessions and cooking and eating activities each week • Co-facilitating the sessions alongside the HCI team • Packing up at the end of each week • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the Dinner Table Project • Assisting with evaluating the program Key areas of responsibility: • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Dinner Table Project • Maintain safe work practices
