Logo for Scientific Expedition Group Inc.(SEG)

The Scientific Expedition Group is a not-for profit organisation which began in 1984. SEG undertakes several expeditions each year to record scientific information on wildlife and the environment in many parts of South Australia. A major expedition to conduct a biodiversity survey occurs each year over two weeks. Scientific experts lead volunteers in surveying mammals, reptiles, invertebrates, vegetation, birds and physical geography. The data collected on each survey are archived with the relevant State scientific institutions to ensure they are available to anyone interested in our State’s environment. SEG conducts four-day biodiversity surveys at eight different sites each autumn and spring in the Heritage Area of scrub on “Minnawarra” farm near Myponga. Data collected are entered into the Biological Data Base of SA. SEG also conducts mallee-fowl monitoring in the Murraylands.
