SEG was formed in 1984, it is a non profit organisation which aims to promote and run expeditions of a scientific, cultural and adventurous nature, to encourage knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment, and to develop interpersonal skills by living and working towards a common goal! It is a vibrant and healthy group of over 50 volunteers who engage in their work on annual filed surveys and have 3 other long running environmental programs as widespread as Myponga (bio-survey of small mammals), Mallee lands (Bakara CP - south of Loxton mallee fowl survey) and a rainfall program in the arid Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges NP.
