ABOUT LYF Now in its 11th year of operation, Leading Youth Forward (LYF) is a completely volunteer-run organisation which provides a structured mentoring and development program to around 80 at-risk Perth teens in years 7 to 10. Teens are carefully matched with a mentor typically aged between 22 - 39, who provides one-on-one support and encouragement to build confidence, nurture personal growth and positively influence their teen at a critical stage in their life. We run five teen events a year, including one weekend-long camp and four ‘Big Days Out’.

ABOUT THE ROLE At the beginning of each year, our teens elect a Youth Committee of Year 10s who act as leaders for the teens and plan Big Day Out 4. The Youth Committee Manager coordinates this group to help them realise their BDO4 dreams, as well as providing leadership opportunities and development.

Key duties • Plan (and run) the quarterly Youth Committee meeting to help these legendary young people smash their goals for the future as well as plan BDO4 • Create leadership development workshops for the Youth Committee relevant to their needs e.g., public speaking, project management etc. • Book fun team building activities for the Youth Committee to do on the day of their meeting • Liaise with BDO4 vendors and partners regarding venues, food, activities and guests and book these in on behalf of the Youth Committee • Act as the event coordinator on the day of Big Day Out 4 • Attend monthly committee meetings

This role is perfect for you if you... • Want to be on LYF committee but want to be in a teen-facing role • Have an interest in leadership development and want to help the Youth Committee grow into the leaders they were born to be • Have great communication skills to advocate for the charity when booking and negotiating • Enjoy event planning and management • Can think outside the box and have creative ideas to bring to BDO4 • Are organised and have good time management skills • Have a genuine will to make a difference to the lives of at-risk youth
