Play Illawarra Communications Internship - Healthy Cities Australia

Healthy Cities Illawarra

We are Healthy Cities Australia, We champion the WHO’s Healthy Cities initiative in Australia to build healthier, happier communities, ensuring a better future for generations to come.

Play Illawarra is a playground directory and online listing platform of free community events focused on children and families. Collaborations include working with 4 local councils, NGO's, charities and other businesses such as shopping centers that provide free activities. It's mission is to create a healthier more socially connect community through play spaces and events.

Job Description:

  • Develop and schedule the Play Illawarra newsletter, including drafting and editing content, and putting it into a Mailchimp template including highlighting playgrounds and events and health promotion message.

  • Create and schedule posts across Healthy Cities Australia social media platforms, including creating video reels and graphics on Canva (Instagram and Facebook)

  • Produce engaging written and visual content that educates the community on the power of play and encourages community participation.

  • Utilise WordPress to upload blog articles and events

  • Visiting Playgrounds or Community events to get content and insight into their value to communicate to the audience.

  • Assist in tracking social media performance, gathering insights, and suggesting improvements for better engagement.

  • Ensure content aligns with HCA and Play Illawarra key messaging and all graphics are aligned with our branding

  • Ad hoc administrative tasks related to communications, such as maintaining content calendars and organising digital assets.

  • Work autonomously and collaboratively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality communications materials.

Desirable Criteria:

  • An interest in children's and families wellbeing.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Content and video skills (desirable, but not essential)

  • Organised and able to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work autonomously and part of a team

  • Creative thinking with an executor mindset
