The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this position on behalf of Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective support to the Chair in facilitating growth and development opportunities for the club
  • Responsible for increasing athlete numbers within the Club, in conjunction with the Club LT
  • Engage with external organisations, including local government, business, sporting affiliates, disability service providers, schools, members of State and Federal parliament; with the objective to raise awareness through membership growth and/or fundraising opportunities
  • Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for the Club
  • Co-ordinate, facilitate and support others (Club LT, Committee, Athlete Leaders, Athletes, Family Members and Volunteers) in Club development activities, to raise awareness about Special Olympics

Experience/Education:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant business experience
  • Computer literacy and working experience with core Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Desirable - Previous experience with a not-for-profit or disability organisation

Key Tasks:

  1. Support the Club Chair to build an effective club
  2. Support the delivery of Club development objectives within agreed budgets
  3. Work collaboratively with Special Olympics Australia (SOA) staff and State LT, to ensure alignment of Club priorities with the broader organisation
  4. Seek opportunities to raise awareness of Special Olympics and the Club, through speaking engagements, participation in community events, awards nominations, and networking.
  5. Proactively represent the Club in both internal and external settings
  6. Support others to represent the Club in both internal and external settings.
  7. Work with the Club Fundraising Co-ordinator to seek opportunities to fundraise through networking, grant applications and engagement with current and future sponsors and partners.

Performance Indicators:

  1. Successful operational development of the Club with measurable outcomes delivered within budget
  2. Proactively take every opportunity to represent the Club and communicate with members
  3. Actual funds raised compared to budget
  4. Membership growth (athletes and volunteers)
