Volunteer English Teacher/Coach

MFL is calling all those interested in working as a English Teacher/Coach to join the organisation!

A successful candidate will be able to achieve individual and organisational goals, which will include online English language and educational support for young children and teenagers. We do work across both, national and international contexts.

Our projects are tailored towards children who come from non-English speaking backgrounds and those who are vulnerable, with disabilities or who have been abused or traumatised physically and mentally. We are seeking a passionate volunteer to give these children hope and motivation by creating a program/s to develop their self-esteem, assist in learning a new language and learn valuable life skills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individuals who can conduct 1:1 and group sessions online (also known as tele-practice). In this role, you will be addressing the speech and communication needs of children aged 2 to 17 years old who have experienced trauma and developing mental health concerns.

We are a flexible and volunteer-friendly charity organisation, you will need to deliver 1- 5 hours of sessions weekly, at any time of your convenience (outside of standard Sydney time business hours may apply).

Requirements:

  • Excellent English communicational skills (preferably native English speaker)
  • Has some knowledge or experience with Spanish as some projects reflect those of Spanish speaking decent
  • Be able to teach children with ages ranging from as low as 2yo and high as 17yo
  • Passionate about working with children with disabilities or other physical/mental health concerns
  • English as a first language is desired but not essential
  • Be able to build a structured learning system
  • Be able to organise and establish active communicational channels
  • Available for 1-2 days per week or upward of 5 hours per week (may be early in the morning or late in the evenings)
  • Available to commit to six months of volunteering time
