Caring for rescued cats and kittens

Sydney's Animals For Everyone Rehoming

At Sydney Animals for Everyone (SAFE) we have a great team of passionate volunteers who commit to a morning shift once a week from 10 am to 1 pm for a minimum of three months and hopefully long-term to clean our cat suites and center. Would you like to join us?

You will receive initial and ongoing training and there are opportunities to become involved in other areas within our small, not for profit organisation, such as trainee Assistant Day Manager (afternoon shifts) or driver for drop off/pick up for vet visits/home fostering cats and dogs. Due to our limited space, we cannot house and care for dogs on our premises, but support foster carers for this role. Your skills will always be greatly appreciated. Common sense, reliability, ability to take and follow instructions as to our cleaning protocols, a love of animals and ability to work within a team are essential skills needed for this role.

You need to be able to work independently but also co-operate with other members of a small team. You must be over 17, able to follow quite complex instructions in a responsible way. You will be expected to work with our strict protocols which help to prevent the spread of disease and ensure the health & safety of both you and the cats. You will need to be reasonably fit and able to bend and stretch to reach into the cat suites for this role. If suitable you will need to undergo a 3 hour training session. Unfortunately as we are a small charity we currently do not have the resources to take on Duke of Edinburgh volunteers because of the supervision and paperwork requirements.

Volunteering is a great way to learn how an animal rescue center operates and it is satisfying to know that you have made a difference by assisting in the rescue and care of cats and a small number of dogs and providing them with a safe environment until we can find their "forever home". By desexing all our animals before adoption, we are helping to reduce the impact on native wildlife by feral cats. If you would like to become involved in helping rescue cats and dogs please read the more detailed information of what is required of this position on our website: saferehoming.com.au/get-involved/volunteers/
