Play a vital role through your volunteering by providing ongoing companionship and social inclusion to Benny. You will reduce the effects of loneliness and isolation for a person with an intellectual disability. You will also make an amazing, new friend! Benny is a 34-year-old man with an intellectual disability and is vision impaired. Benny is great company - sociable, chatty and has a great sense of humour! Benny would love to have a volunteer who is available to hang out fortnightly. No previous experience is required. Competencies include a warm, caring and patient approach as well as empathy, good communication skills and a genuine desire to make a difference. Reliability and a willingness to commit to very regular contact for a minimum of 12 months is a requirement.
