Established in 1982, Melbourne Writers Theatre (MWT) is a vibrant and dynamic non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to promoting and supporting the development of new and emerging playwrights in Victoria, Australia. In April 2022 MWT became a registered charity, and on 15th June 2023 the organisation gained DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status. MWT supports and promote theatre networks, the act of writing and the diverse writing culture across Victoria. We provide a platform for Victorian writers to showcase their work through stage productions, script readings, workshops and several dramaturgical programs.
