Join a great team of volunteers to visit elderly people in their homes to deliver clean linen and towels, change the bedsheets and chat to elderly and vulnerable clients.  This servcie is essential in enabling elderly members of the community to remain living independently at home when they are no longer able to wash large sheets or change the bed sheets themselves.  Many clients have said that without this vital service they would not have been able to continue to live in their own homes.

Volunteers are in pairs - volunteer drivers need a class C driving licence, access to a car and comprehensive car insurance.  You will quickly get to know your regular clients and they will look forward to seeing you.

We provide PPE - gloves, masks  for when you are handling bed sheets and making the bed.  Clients who are able to strip their own beds and bag dirty linen will do, which reduces the contact you will have with unwashed linen.  We also provide hand sanitizer to all linen volunteers and disinfectant for your car after carrying unwashed linen (dirty linen is bagged up, and should not come into direct contact with your car surfaces).  We do not currently provide this service to any clients who are unwell or have had recent contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case.  During periods of tighter Covid-19 restrictions we run this as a delivery only service rather than the full bed-making service.  Our intention is to re-open the bed making service from August 2020.

All clean linen is commercially laundered.

A reasonable level of fitness is required as you will be required to change and make a number of beds.

This is a fantastic opportunity to greatly improve the quality of life of vulnerable people in our community and particularly suits active, friendly volunteers who are looking to make a real difference in their local community.
