Fridays at Stellar Violets Autumn Launch Day Friday March 3

Our primary volunteering project for Autumn is to create the first stage of Stellar Violets Life Library. This research library will offer hundreds of books, mainly not in the public library system, on topics including sustainability, healthy living, agriculture and land management.

In order to make books accessible to Friends of Stellar Violets, we need to remove some train carriage seats, create a database for the book collection, build library shelves, and install the library!

Other volunteering tasks during autumn will include gardening and food growing, harvest preserving and making a delicious weekly community lunch harvested from the garden.

Skills and experience volunteers will need to bring to the organisation Essential Able-bodied In good physical and mental health Self-aware Keen to learn Open to new ideas Respectful Desirable Cooking Gardening / Farming Carpentry / building Sustainable living Design Engineering Artistic & Creative Organisational / planning / project management Media: Photography, film, writing, sound, other Computing We have capacity engage one or two people in our reception room on office related / administrative / data entry tasks. This person will need: - people skills & and a cheerful demeanour - attention to detail - sound computing skills including knowledge of Excel - knowledge of Mac computers, or, their own laptop Expected skills to be developed by volunteers. - organic gardening, including use of hand tools, approaches, philosophy - making compost - making bio-fertilisers and compost teas - seeding, planting out, plant care, harvest - preserving the harvest - creative thinking - mindfulness - non-violent communication skills - working in groups toward meaningful end goals - preparing and eating healthy meals
