Volunteer Court Support Worker Gympie

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to liaise and work effectively with court staff and key stakeholders. You will possess the ability to work both in a team and independently. The role requires a strong sense of commitment and ability to provide support and client service skills

Responsibilities include:

• Provide male respondents with general information in relation to Domestic Violence Protection Orders, court layout and court processes. • Provide men affected by domestic and family violence with information about available services and assistance with referrals. • Develop and maintain community networks and referral protocols, through liaison and service promotion with court officials, Queensland Police, solicitors and other community service providers. • Maintenance of appropriate files and case notes as per organisational policies and procedures. • Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent.

Suitable applicants will have:

• Appropriate undergraduate tertiary qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences or studying towards, or relevant experience and knowledge of community development, project work and crisis support services. • Willingness to work with men who have perpetrated domestic and family violence. • Ability to communicate with men from a wide range of backgrounds whilst maintaining confidentiality and a non-judgmental manner. • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of court procedures, or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge. • Possession of a current (open) drivers licence and willingness to travel if required.
