Peer Connection Volunteer
Banyule Community HealthPeer Connection Volunteers provide telephone support to people experiencing gambling harm. Volunteers use lived experiences of gambling harm and recovery to offer opportunities to listen, empathise and support. Volunteers are allocated clients and make regular calls to support the client as they move toward achieving their goals.
Peer Support Volunteers have either experienced gambling harm or have a family member/friend who has experienced gambling harm.
Comprehensive training is provided, and support is always available. Once training has been completed volunteers attend regular weekly shifts to call their clients to offer encouragement, support, strategies and share experiences. New volunteers will enjoy the support of the program coordinator and other volunteers as they develop their skills and confidence.
