A male volunteer is required who has a friendly/sociable medium sized dog that they can bring with them once a week.
The aim is for the Volunteer to visit to chat with clients whilst providing the opportunity to pet the dog and interact with both the dog and the volunteer. Pet visits have a number of benefits - ie. The soothing effect of patting and stroking an animal has reported medical benefits such as the reduced likelihood of heart attack. Much research has been done in the area to support this belief.
