Jabiru Community Youth and Children’s Services Association Inc. (Jabiru) is an incorporated association under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981. Jabiru operates school-aged care and family and community services in South-East Queensland, focused on communities surrounding children, young people and their family. The Board must have a minimum of three (and to seven) elected directors and up to two appointed directors. As a management committee of an incorporated association, the Board must have a President, Treasurer and Secretary. The Board has commenced planning to transition Jabiru to a Company Limited by Guarantee, at which time a Board of Directors will be established. Jabiru is seeking up to two (2) new board members to join its passionate and committed volunteer board. The POSITION DESCRIPTION sets out the range of skills and experience sought for board members in general. The board would welcome expressions of interest from people with those skills and experience, and would particularly welcome hearing from people with any of the following:

  • Strong financial management experience
  • Experience in early childhood education and care
  • Legal qualifications
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons

Jabiru requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • Holding a valid Working with Children Blue Card
  • A national criminal history check
  • An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas
  • A minimum of three reference checks
