Citizen Advocacy Perth West (CAPW) is a not for profit organisation that aims to promote, facilitate and support advocacy for people with disability. CAPW seeks out local people with intellectual disability who are isolated, vulnerable or at risk and matches them in a one to one friendship with a caring citizen who becomes their “Citizen Advocate.” This person commits on a long-term basis to really get to know the person with disability, allowing them to speak up for their friend and ensure their voice is heard. The organisation receives funding from the Commonwealth Department of Social Services. The project: CAPW is seeking assistance with their 2019/2020 financial audit. This has previously been completed by a volunteer who recently retired after 20 years in the role. • CAPW has introduced Single Touch Payroll and switched from MYOB to a Xero accounting system. • Ideally the audit will be completed in August 2020. • This work can be completed off-site, however, the volunteer may feel better positioned working alongside CAPW’s staff at their office in Osborne Park. Having this assistance will help to ensure that CAPW meets its financial responsibilities and is able to invest more in supporting people with an intellectual disability.
