Working with industry-recognised practitioners on a variety of event and office based tasks to support the delivery of major events in the Burwood area; you will gain practical experience and professional development in areas including:

Experience and knowledge in events is essential

• Events Management – Work alongside the events coordinator, gaining an insight into the finer details of event management from inception to completion • Supplier Liaison - Assist with sourcing quotes and booking of event entertainment, staging, audio visual and support equipment • Stakeholder Interaction - Maintaining the events databases: inputting registrations, confirming event registrations, processing applications • On Site Experience – Assist the events coordinator and gain onsite work experience at Burwood Festival, the biggest Festival in the Inner West • Administration Duties – Assist with record maintenance and other general administrative tasks • Writing - Develop agreements and proposals for entertainers and assist with event marketing duties such as writing press releases, radio and television spot copy • Organisational Tools – Development of essential on site event documents such as production timelines, contact lists and on site deliverables schedules • Evaluation - Compile feedback data and produce evaluation summaries • Creative Team Meetings – Participating in regular campaign meetings and brainstorms

Burwood Council’s internship program is structured to provide involvement in the total event lifecycle from the concept stage through to the detail of the delivery of the event, including liaison with third party suppliers and internal resources through to contributing to post event analysis, along with personal and professional development experiences while working with highly experienced practitioners.

Burwood Council has been identified by the NSW Government as the Hub of the Inner West and is in the midst of a variety of exciting projects.
