Right Now is an independent media outlet committed to publishing in-depth analysis, opinion and creative storytelling centred around human rights. Right Now elevates diverse voices and perspectives, both established and emerging, to uncover the ways in which human rights are being compromised and celebrated in Australia and around the world. 


The General Manager, in conjunction with the Editor-in-Chief and the Board, will help sustain Right Now’s vision and continue to ensure the long-term sustainability of Australian’s only online journal dedicated to human rights.

We are looking for someone with strong operational skills, excellent people skills and a passion for human rights. This is an opportunity for someone who is interested in managing teams and nurturing a rewarding team culture.

Tasks include:

• Fine-tuning the operational procedures to ensure work is professional and streamlined.
• Overseeing the organisational structure to ensure Right Now is delivering its vision while creating and capitalising on opportunities for development.
• Recruiting new volunteers, assisting with inductions and exit interviews.
• Working with the Editor-in-Chief to nurture an organisational culture that is supportive and inspiring. 
• Developing and monitoring KPIs.
• Organising professional development workshops in conjunction with the Editor-in-Chief 
• Working with the Board to establish and revise strategic plans.
• Weekly administration to see the smooth running of Right Now’s business operations.

Time commitment:

• The General Manager is expected to attend bi-monthly board meetings. 
• Fortnightly liaison with Editor-in-Chief and Development Manager.
• Estimated 5 hours per week.
