St Vincent de Paul Society is establishing a new****Education Program in Northcote.

We want to encourage reading by primary students (grades 2 - 6), particularly those with literacy challenges.

Similar to the Vinnies West Heidelberg Education Program, which has been running for ten years, the Northcote Education Program will rely on volunteers working closely with students.

Northcote Education Program is looking for volunteers on Wednesday 2.45-4.45pm at St Joseph’s Primary School, 39 James Street, Northcote

The program will begin on the 15th of April 2020.

Committed volunteers of all ages who are available on Wednesday afternoons are encouraged to become involved.

Volunteers with a background in teaching literacy to children and working with children with challenging behaviours are particularly sought after.

Secondary students (for instance, as part of a community service program) and tertiary Education or Social Work students who are looking to work in community education programs are also suitable.

Volunteers require a Working with Children Check.
